Charlton report Newcastle to Premier League over Elliot interest

Newcastle have had an offer for Charlton keeper Rob Elliot rejected and incurred the anger of the Addicks over their conduct in the negotiations. The Magpies tabled a £100,000 offer for the 25-year-old shot-stopper on Wednesday evening which was immediately turned down by the League One outfit.

The League One outfit claim they were assured by the Magpies that no details of the move would enter the public domain, only for Alan Pardew to discuss their interest later in the week.

Charlton chief executive Steven Kavanagh admitted that they have raised their concerns with the Premier League and do not anticipate any further approaches from Newcastle.

He told the club's official website: "It is very disappointing that Alan Pardew has decided to make public an offer for Robbie Elliot despite assurances to the contrary that wouldn't happen from club officials.

"Newcastle made a written offer of £100,000 for Robbie on Wednesday, and made it clear that it was their final and best offer.

"The offer was rejected within minutes, and Newcastle then confirmed they no longer had an interest in the player.

"We have contacted the Premier League to register our concern at public statements being made by Newcastle after they withdrew their interest."
