Joe Gomez was outstanding on debut for Charlton Athletic in their Capital One Cup win over Colchester.

Gomez won the European Under-17 Championship with England in the summer and looks set for an exciting future.

Addicks manager Bob Peeters said: "He is a very good player and I know I can count on him.

"I am very happy with a lot of young guns who played last night. [Joe] made his debut at The Valley before a good crowd and I am very happy."
