CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - Ro16: Juventus comfortably navigate Dortmund as Barcelona eliminate Man City

Juventus are safely through to the quarter-finals of the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League with a breezy 3-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.

The Serie A champions went into the contest at the Westfalenstadion without midfield lynchpin Andrea Pirlo before losing French young gun Paul Pogba to a hamstring injury early but managed to dominate the Germans in front of their expectant fans.

Following a 2-1 win in Turin last month, Juventus were hoping for an early goal and it came in just the third minute when Carlos Tevez let fly from range for the first of his double.

It was a well-struck effort but at a nice height for Dortmund keeper Roman Weidenfeller who was unable to get a hand on it as Massimiliano Allegri's Bianconeri stamped themselves on the contest.

Juventus were comfortable throughout and indeed were the only team pressing in attack with Alvaro Morata forcing two top-quality saves rom Weidenfeller in the second half before the Spaniard slotted home from close range in the 70th minute courtesy of a Tevez assist.

Nine minutes later it was all over when Tevez struck his 23rd goal of the season with a clinical finish to send an outstanding Juve through to their second UCL quarter-final in the last nine seasons with just their fifth win in 19 matches on their travels in Europe.

Barcelona have also qualified for the last eight of Europe's top-drawer club comp by edging Manchester City 1-0 at Camp Nou.

Ivan Rakitic produced the only goal of the night with a deft lobbed 31st-minute finish from a delightful long ball from Lionel Messi which gave the Catalan giants a 3-1 aggregate win following their 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium in February.

Barcelona had the greater of the chances, particularly when Neymar hit the upright early and Luis Suarez dashed the post later in the first half, while City saw Sergio Aguero's penalty saved by Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

However, the one goal was enough to send Barcelona into the quarter-finals where they join French pair Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco, fellow Spaniards Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, Juventus, German giants Bayern Munich and Portugal's FC Porto as City end England's run with all Premier League sides now out of the competition.
