Champions League action with Austria Vienna gives Holland WC hope

James Holland is looking to force his way into the Australian national team by performing at the top at club level.

The 24-year old midfielder is a regular in the Austria Vienna line-up which has so far included two starts in the UEFA Champions League this season.

Holland says he is hoping to use his experiences in Europe's premier club competition to work his name into calculations for Australia's World Cup squad for Brazil 2014.

"I've had two 90 minute games now in the Champions League, plus the qualification games, and it's another level up and a fantastic experience," said Holland ahead of the Socceroo's upcoming friendlies with France and Canada.

"It's helping me develop as a player and if it can help me get back in the starting team for Australia I will be than happy.

"Hopefully I will be involved in some way in the games against France and Canada this month.

"Either way, I respect the coach's decisions. Of course every player wants to play and I back my ability and believe I am good enough.

"But it's down to the coach to decide who features and I will just keep my head down, keep working and try and take the opportunity when it comes."
