Former Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas says La Roja coach Luis de la Fuente did the right thing by Sergio Ramos.

PSG defender Ramos immediately announced his retirement after being told by De le Fuente he wasn't in his plans. The Real Madrid legend took aim at De la Fuente in his retirement announcement.

But Cesc, now with Como, said: "I don't want this to be misinterpreted: I thought it was good that the coach told him directly before he found out from a third party.

"(Julen) Lopetegui called me and told me he wanted to try playing younger players. I was winning the Premier League at the time and it didn't sit well with me.

"It's impossible to feel good about that."
