Cerny grateful to Spurs boss Ramos for Cup chance

Radek Cerny hopes Tottenham boss Juande Ramos gives him a chance to establish himself as their new No1.

Cerny replaced a shocked Paul Robinson for this week's Carling Cup semi at Arsenal, which finished in a 1-1 draw.

"I think that the coach gives chances to players with the best actual form," he told CTK.

"To put an England goalkeeper on the bench was not an easy decision for him. I am glad I was given the chance to play."

Spurs have been linked with Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg but Cerny is reticent to be drawn on possible transfer targets and how they could affect his position.

"I have not heard about it," he claimed. "During the time the new coach has been here there have been about ten goalkeepers targeted.

"Most likely someone will come here but I am concentrating on my own performances."
