Celtic to use dead rubber CL game for fringe players

Celtic boss Gordon Strachan will use Wednesday's Champions League clash against Villarreal as an opportunity to take a look at his squad players. That should mean a return to the starting line-up for Aiden McGeady and Georgios Samaras.

Celtic's are bottom of the group and cannot progress any further in European competition this campaign.

"Some of the players might need this one," Strachan said. "Aiden and Sami might need games.

"I need to get the men who perhaps have not had many games, or who have maybe not been at the top of their form, playing so that they can find that best form."

"There's never a game which means nothing to this club," Strachan told the Evening Times.

"We just need to get something to feel good about ourselves."
