Celtic succeed in re-signing young starlet McGeough

Ranger have failed in a last-ditch bid to persuade Dylan McGeough not to re-join bitter rivals Celtic, reports the Scottish Sun. SunSport revealed last Saturday that the Hoops had made a move for the 17 year old midfield kid whose Gers deal ends next May.

The 17-year-old had agreed a pre-contract with Celts, who allowed him to join Gers three years ago in a swap deal with Sean Fitzharris.

Now it's understood Ibrox manager Walter Smith, chief executive Martin Bain and head of youth Jimmy Sinclair desperately tried over the last few days to get the Scottish youth cap to perform a U-turn.

Celtic, though, will have to compensate their Old Firm foes with a tribunal expected to set a six-figure sum.

McGeough has agreed wages of £3,000 a week, a massive rise on what he had been on.
