The Australian international was forced to miss the Socceroos’ recent trip down under for international matches against Holland and Oman (in his hometown of Melbourne) because of a back injury he sustained in the Old Firm clash with Rangers two weeks ago but is set for action this weekend.
McDonald spent the best part of four years with the Well, appearing in over 100 matches and scoring close to 50 goals but says now his allegiance lies with the green and white hoops.
“I enjoyed my time at Motherwell and the support the club gave me was enormous but now I am a Celtic player and I will be doing everything I can to ensure we get the points,” McDonald told tribalfootball.com.
Celtic still hold a one-point lead on rivals Rangers despite their 2-1 loss at Ibrox on October 4 and need a win over Motherwell to remain clear of their main title challengers who face the lowly St Johnstone this weekend.
