Celtic release New Zealand international for Olympic Games

Killen has been released by Scottish side Celtic to become one of the three over-23 year old players allowed to play in the Olywhites at the Olympic Games.

Killen says there was a little negotiating to be done with manager Gordon Strachan. He says all clubs want their players to compete at international level but they also need to do what is best for the organisation, so there is a fine balance in deciding to release a player.

He is very excited to have been granted a release and all parties are happy.

Killen says he is yet to speak to Nelsen about whether Blackburn will release the defender but he describes Nelsen as a huge part of the squad and he is hopeful he can join them.
