Celtic push for Stoke defender Faye

Celtic are pushing to land Stoke City defender Abdoulaye Faye.

The Daily Mail says the 32-year-old Senegalese defender is eager to move on a gain more playing time.

Manager Tony Pulis sees him as a valuable squad member but is looking to bring in younger players and may sacrifice Faye and Glenn Whelan as he freshens up the side.

Newcastle and Wolverhampton Wanderers have both expressed an interest in midfielder Whelan, while Celtic have been keen on Faye with talks over Nottingham Forest's Kelvin Wilson dragging on.
