Celtic are believed to be showing significant interest in FC Groningen's Virgil van Dijk.
Reports suggest that the Hoops have lodged a bid of around £1.8million for the 21-year old Dutch defender but they face competition from big clubs in Holland.
PSV Eindhoven and FC Twente are also keen on van Dijk whilst Brighton & Hove Albion have been credited with an interest.
van Dijk's agent Martin Henk Chin told Dutch TV that there had been a bid for his client but did not reveal the identity of the club.
"A bid has been made for Virgil but I can't say anything about the club," he said.
