Celtic closing in on AIK Stockholm's Bangura

AIK Stockholm striker Mohamd Bangura is reportedly moving closer to a move to join Scottish giants Celtic.

The 22-year old Sierra Leone international, who came with glowing recommendations from Celtic club legend Henrik Larsson, could soon be on his way to Parkhead after the two clubs agreed a fee of around £2.2million.

Following yesterday's win over St Mirren, Celtic assistant Alan Thompson was left to take care of the press duties as manager Neil Lennon had to attend to other matters.

It is believed that this was to watch Bangura play on Sunday night as they continue their pursuit before the transfer deadline but Thompson did name names and said things were not at an advanced stage with the player.

"Neil's gone on club business. That's all I've been told to say. There are a few positions we've been looking at and we shall see what happens between now and Wednesday night," he said.

"We're not in talks with Bangura, but he's one we're looking at. He's someone we've been looking at for this week.

"It's not easy getting people in. There are big demands on players and we'll have to wait and see what develops.

"The manager is confident with the squad we have, but if we can add one or two then it will make us stronger for the season ahead."

But SunSport suggests Bangura, who has scored seven goals in 20 appearances in the Swedish Allsvenskan this term, is due to have a medical today before signing a deal with the Hoops.
