Celtic chief Lawwell excited ahead of Champions League draw

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell says he cannot wait to learn the clubs fate in the UEFA Champions League.

The Glasgow giants have made it through to the Round of 16 of Europe's primary club competition and the December 20 can't come soon enough for Lawwell.

"We look ahead now with excitement and confidence as we join Barca and some other great footballing names in the draw," he said in the wake of Wednesday night's 2-1triumph over Spartak Moscow which came via a late Kris Commons penalty.

"I would like to thank all our fans for the tremendous support they gave the team last night.

"Once again, we showed the world there is no place like Celtic Park.

"It was a very tense, but ultimately successful evening, and it was a great night for Celtic and Scottish football.

"We thank all of our supporters for all they have done so far in backing us on our great European adventure and we can all look forward to the last 16."
