Celtic are chasing Newcastle United goalkeeper Steve Harper.

The Mirror says the Scottish club are ready to make a move for the Geordie stopper if they can offload Polish international Artur Boruc.

Celtic sources have admitted that Harper is a target as new boss Neil Lennon looks to reshape his squad.

Harper is an influential figure on and of the pitch at St James' Park and is hugely popular with the Tyneside fans. Celtic have just recruited former Newcastle coach Alan Thompson, who may have recommended the Easington-born Harper.
