Celtic and Portsmouth are battling for American goalkeeper Dominic Cervi. The former Michigan Bucks No1 had trials at both Celtic and Pompey and is understood to have been tabled a three-year contract offer by the Hoops.
Cervi was drafted by MLS outfit Chicago Fire, but refused to sign a League contract, so leaving him a free agent.
He said back in April: "I trained with Celtic for about three weeks.
"They also came to Toulon to watch me play so I must have done OK in their eyes.
"They said they liked what they saw. We're currently trying to work to get an Italian passport. My great-grandparents were the ones who came over from Italy. It's easy to trace because it was my dad's grandfather so the names were easy."
