Celta Vigo have named Claudio Giraldez as caretaker coach.

Giraldez has stepped up from the B team after yesterday's sacking of Rafa Benitez.

Celta announced: "The coach of Celta Fortuna, Claudio Giráldez, will take the reins of the first team from this Wednesday, the day in which, after a day of rest, a training session will take place at 11am at the Cidade Deportiva Afouteza.

"Giráldez, trained in the youth team categories of the Vigo club, will lead RC Celta this Sunday in Seville, where RC Celta will play against the Andalusian team at 2 pm at the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium.

"The coach from Porriño has made the leap from the RC Celta Juvenil de División de Honor to the reserve team in the 2022/2023 season, in which, with a team of enormous youth, they managed to qualify for the playoffs for promotion. In the current championship, and after 27 games played, Celta Fortuna is fifth with 47 points. Gran Peña coach Fredi Álvarez will replace Giráldez in RC Celta's reserve team."
