Celta Vigo midfielder Fran Beltran admits he's baffled by Iago Aspas' Spain snub.

The veteran Celta striker was again ignored by Spain coach Luis Enrique, all but ending his World Cup chances in the process.

Beltrame commented: “I don't understand why he doesn't go to the National Team being the player he is. Aspas is a great player, for me he is one of the best strikers that Spain has.

"Borja Iglesias also deserves to go, of course, other players deserve to go, but we have a preference for Iago and we know that he can contribute a lot to the National Team and he deserves to go."

Of his own form, Beltran adds: “The beginning of the season has been difficult, with many changes, and we are working to reverse the situation, which is not all bad. For my part, I work and help the team in any way I can. If the coach needs me for anything, I'll go there, I'll throw myself headfirst into whatever he tells me, I'm a soldier."
