Cattermole delighted to return for Sunderland with Liverpool point

Sunderland captain Lee Cattermole was delighted to mark his return from suspension with their draw at Liverpool.

Cattermole was pleased with his return and with the attitude showed by his team-mates as Sunderland claimed a point from a 2-2 draw at Anfield.

"I was surprised because I felt a lot better than I thought I would," Cattermole told safc.com.

"I've trained hard while I've been suspended and I've been out with the reserve lads when the first team have had days off.

"Once Liverpool equalized they were always going to come on strong at home but we defended well.

"Physically, some of the lads were tired late on, for example myself and Michael Turner as we've only just come back. As a team we showed a good mentality, we stayed strong and we weren't going to be beaten.

"Their first goal wound quite a few of us up and got our backs up; we came back strongly and played some good football.

"Only one team was going to win it when we scored our second, although it changed things when they equalized. But for 30 or 40 minutes we were the better team."
