Catania will continue to target Argentine transfer market

Catania sporting director Pietro Lo Monaco says they'll continue trawling the Argentine transfer market.

The Sicilians already have eleven Argentines on their books.

"The Italian market is too expensive for us," explained Lo Monaco. "If we have to buy players here, we would rather invest in Serie B or C like we did with Marco Biagianti.

"Argentines have the same DNA as Italians and that is why their origins are from the Bel Paese.

"It is easy for them to settle here and they seem to enjoy the League - that is why we are always looking for bargains over there."

Catania have a close link with Jorge Cysterpiller, the transfer guru who brought Diego Maradona to Europe.

"I have known him for 15 years. We met in Argentina and started working together," added Lo Monaco.

"He sends over tapes to watch and is my main source. I regularly do a full immersion in Argentine football to discover talents and over a week I can analyse more or less the whole League."
