Newcastle United caretaker boss John Carver has recalled his incident with Toon fans at Southampton earlier this season.
Carver confronted protesting fans ahead of the 4-0 defeat on the south coast to leave fans unhappy with his actions.
He said: "It started badly even before kick off. I have to go on record to say it was an altercation.
"I didn't have the problem with the fans protesting but when Tim Krul said to me he was a bit disappointed with the banners being raised before kick-off, that was the only thing that upset me.
"You know what I'm like, I'm not a shrinking violet, am I? We had words with each other but it's all history now.
"I apologised afterwards, absolutely, and rightly so but there wasn't one that came the other way. I can't go into detail what was said."
