Lee Carsley insists Everton's bid for fourth-place won't be affected by their successful UEFA Cup run.

Carsley told evertonfc.com: "As soon as we came off the pitch on Sunday, our thoughts immediately turned to Fiorentina, as the UEFA Cup is a competition that is very important to us and we are all so desperate to do well in it. We have done well so far and we want to keep it going.

"We've heard that people say it could be a distraction for us but that's not going to be the case. We have got a big enough squad here now to cope with the demands and if anyone is feeling tired, there are players who are more than capable of coming in to do a job."
