Andy Carroll faces eight weeks out at new club Liverpool.
Carroll has yet to play this year because of a thigh injury and recently flew to Sweden to see a specialist for a second opinion about the problem.
And his former Newcastle team-mate Kevin Nolan revealed Carroll faces a long wait for his Liverpool debut, saying: "He could be out for another eight weeks."
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish refused to put a time on Carroll's return yesterday.
But did admit: "We've got to be patient and we've got to make sure we act in the best interests of Andy first and foremost and ourselves."
