Carragher says Chelsea attacker Sterling right to be upset with England snub

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes England star Raheem Sterling is justifiably annoyed at being out of the squad at present.

Chelsea winger Sterling, despite being a favorite of boss Gareth Southgate, is once again missing for the Three Lions for the November internationals.

The 28-year-old scored his fourth goal of the league season in a 4-4 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.

“Sterling has been brilliant. There's no doubt he'll be disappointed he is not in the England squad. I think he has a case," Carragher said on Sky Sports.

For his part, Southgate stated at the time of his squad announcement: “The door is 100% open not only for Raheem but for other players who aren't in this squad, there's no doubt about that.

“He's a crucial part of why we've had the journey we've had over the last few years.

“I can only repeat what I said in the last few squad selection meetings, this squad is playing well, we had an exceptional win against Italy here, so who do we leave out? It's as simple as that."
