Jamie Carragher has had a pop at Liverpool after Steven Gerrard's return was confirmed.

The Reds legend packed his bags to join LA Galaxy in 2015.

But he's now returned to his former stomping ground to work with academy director Alex Inglethorpe.

"I'm delighted to see him back at the club," he told Sky Sports. "I was disappointed when he left to go to the MLS.

"As a club, they maybe should have done a bit more keep him.

"You do worry that he might not come back, or enjoyed the life out there. Or as we saw MK Dons came in for him - he almost went there.

"I'm just delighted he's back at the club and at the academy, it's a great place for him to start.

"He's got great people to work with a learn from."
