Jamie Carragher says Liverpool have no option but to spend big this summer.

"If other teams are spending double what you are spending on players they have an advantage on you," said the England defender.

"If we want to bridge that gap we have to go in at the top end of the market."

Carragher is a fan of record signing Fernando Torres and believes his style will suit the Premier League.

He said: "You have a great pedigree there.

"He is a young lad, very quick, which is good for the Premier League and I'm sure he will do very well."
