Sol Campbell says former Arsenal teammate Theo Walcott should never have gone to the 2006 World Cup as a 17 year-old.

Campbell, who won 73 caps and played in six tournaments, says Sven Goran Eriksson should not have taken 17-year-old Theo Walcott to the 2006 World Cup.

Walcott did not feature in the event and Campbell said: "That didn't do Theo any good.

"But luckily he has come back from that and let's hope we can learn from those mistakes."
