Sol Campbell has revealed he is unlikely to join Newcastle in the January transfer window as they have not expressed an interest. The former Arsenal and Tottenham defender is free to join a new club next month after settling his contractual dispute with Notts County.
The Toon have been strongly linked with a move for Campbell, but it appears their interest in the defender has cooled.
"The paperwork is now with Notts County, an agreement has been reached, but as yet they haven't signed the documents and sent them off to the Football League. I am waiting for that to happen," said Campbell.
"My guess is that it will somehow coincide with the opening of the transfer window, and I will be free to play in about three weeks' time.
"Where I am going to play? Well, that is interesting. I have a few clubs tabling offers at the moment, but one of them doesn't seem to be Newcastle now."
