Everton's Dominic Calwert-Lewin says he and other club youngsters are enjoying the competition for places and are pushing each other forward.
The 21-year-old scored a brace in a Carabao Cup win over Rotherham, which earned him a place in the team for a clash with Huddersfield Town – where he scored the vital equaliser.
In the Rotherham duel, his teammate, Tom Davies, became the youngest Toffees' captain, leading the side at just 20. And Calwert-Lewin is grateful to manager Marco Silva for given opportunity.
"He has been good for me. I have played on the left quite a lot but he told me a few things before the game to try to help me out a little bit and they did," Calvert-Lewin told evertontv.
"There are quite a few young players in the team but we can all compete. And it is nice to know the manager sees that, he sees it on a daily basis because we are all working hard in training.
"And we all back ourselves to compete with anyone in the squad.
"I was over the moon for Tom [when he was skipper against Rotherham]. Everyone knows we are good friends and it was great to top off that occasion with a win."
