Hakan Calhanoglu was happy playing in a deeper role for Inter Milan's win against Roma.
Marcus Thuram struck the winner for the Nerazzurri, which kept former teammate Romelu Lukaku quiet on the day.
Calhanoglu said: "I have played in many roles and a lot depends on the system. If we played with four at the back it was different, with five in the middle the role I play I feel at ease. I grew up in the defensive phase that I didn't have before, I was a little modern but I've grown up.
"I'm trying to be meaner in duels."
"I'm a bit far from goal, I miss it a bit but I'm trying to move forward to score goals. Shootking from outside the area isn't a problem for me."
He added, "(Kristjan) Asllani is growing, it takes a little patience but he is very strong, he has a lot of quality and we are helping him. Lukaku? I don't want to comment."
