Cahill: Win over West Brom was a good tonic for Arteta injury

Everton star Tim Cahill says the win over West Brom on the weekend was just what the doctor ordered after a tough week.

The Toffees lost key playmaker Mikel Arteta for the season with a knee injury against Newcastle last Sunday but bounced back to score a vital win over the struggling Baggies.

Cahill said the team would continue to try and win games despite their growing list of casualties.

"The main aim for us is to take it one game at a time. We're such a committed squad and we go out and give all our effort on the pitch and leave it on there. Maybe that is why we have more injuries than others, but credit to the manager and the players for the effort we put in," the Socceroo told the club's official website.

Cahill tried to describe his role in the team after again scoring a vital goal, his eighth of the season.

"I suppose I'm a defensive, attacking, striking midfielder," he added.

"It doesn't really matter - I'm just happy that we're getting the goals and we're playing well. We were pretty down in the week because of Mikel but we've picked ourselves up and got the result we wanted."
