Cahill misses training but injured trio could be back for Australia

Tim Cahill missed Australia's latest training session in Qatar because of a corked thigh. The Everton star came off late in the final group stage of the Asian Cup against Bahrain on Tuesday afternoon (Wednesday morning AEDT) and was forced into light duties as the Socceroos prepare for their quarter-final with reigning champions Iraq.

But in better news for the Australians, injured trio Jason Culina, Luke Wilkshire and David Carney all managed to train in some capacity.

Culina's knee problem restricted him to alight work out whilst Wilkshire's groin and Carney's shoulder allowed them to join in with the rest of the playing group.

Harry Kewell seemed to think that Cahill's durability would see him through: "He looked alright to me, he's a strong character," he told Fox Sports.

"He has played in the Premiership for a long time but fingers crossed that hopefully he will be out there on Saturday."

As for Carney, he feels that his shoulder will be fine to get up for the Round of 8 match.

"It feels much better today. It takes a few days to calm down but hopefully it will be alright for the quarter-finals," the Blackpool man said.

The Aussies meet Iraq on Saturday afternoon (Sunday 12:00am AEDT) at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
