Tim Cahill has helped Everton to a stirring 2-0 Merseyside derby win over a hapless Liverpool outfit. The Australian international opened the scoring with a well-taken shot in the 34th minute after Seamus Coleman beat two defenders down the right before teeing Cahill up and he hooked it past Pepe Reina from the near post.
The Toffees doubled their lead through Cahill's good friend Mikel Arteta who smashed home a brilliant swerving volley in the 50th minute which was enough to heap more misery on the Redse, who had new owner Paul W Henry watching from the stands.
The win allowed Everton to move up to 11th on the table as Liverpool dropped to 19th .
