Cagliari have named Gianfranco Zola as new coach.

The decision was announced on Christmas Eve and he will begin training on December 28.

"Welcome home Gianfranco," read the statement posted on the Cagliari website.

Zola worked in England at West Ham and Watford. He was also co-manager of the Italy Under-21 side.
