Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that second-choice goalkeeper Willy Caballero will start ahead of Joe Hart in the second leg of the League Cup semi-final against Everton.

City will face the Toffees at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night in a bid to overturn the first leg deficit of 2-1 and reach the Wembley final.

But they will be doing it without number one Hart who has been rested by Pellegrini for Argentine gloveman Caballero.

"Yes, Willy will start the next two games because I trust a lot in Willy," said Pellegrini.

"He is a very good goalkeeper and I think one of the important things why Joe Hart improves a lot was he has been working with Willy every day and he feels he has important competition behind him.

"They have important competition in their position.

"I think Willy deserves to play this game and Joe has a lot of trust in this moment. He doesn't have any problem that change goalkeepers. It's a good moment for the goalkeepers."
