Jacob Butterfield is set to make his Norwich City debut tonight against Capital One Cup opponents Doncaster.
The former Barnsley captain signed for the Canaries carrying a knee injury.
"It's been a long time coming - nine months or so I've not played - so when I found out I was going to start I'm just really looking forward to it," said Butterfield.
"I missed the second part of the season last year and that was a frustrating time because you want to be out on the pitch.
"So I think signing for Norwich and getting this move gave me a little boost in the summer and encouragement to keep working hard and get back fit. So I'm really glad I'm ready to go now because it feels like a lifetime I've been here and waiting for that chance.
"Coming to a new club you want to impress straight away. I've had to be patient and it's been frustrating, to be honest. But I've got the opportunity now to get my debut and get the Norwich shirt on."
