Butland urges Stoke pals not to dwell on Newcastle defeat

Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland hopes his new teammates can pick themselves up after defeat at Newcastle United.

Butland, who was loaned back to Birmingham after signing for Stoke in January, was full of sympathy after the Potters were beaten by a 92nd-minute goal to make it one win in 10 matches.

"It was my birthday on Sunday so I didn't get to see the game," said the England keeper to The Sentinel, "but I felt for them when I heard the result.

"It was just unfortunate to concede so late on.

"The lads have been fantastic defensively this year and they will put what happened to the back of their minds now.

"There's only one focus now and that's the next game. They will be raring to go on Saturday."
