Busch and San Jose Earthquakes agree terms

San Jose Earthquakes and goalkeeper Jon Busch have come to terms on a deal.

The veteran shot-stopper was released by the Chicago Fire last week but has quickly found a new club with the Quakes happy to take the 2008 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year.

He confirmed to Chicago Fire Confidential that he will begin his time in San Jose as backup for Joe Cannon but was excited about his new opportunity.

"I talked to [San Jose General Manager] John Doyle the other day about it and... [told me that I'm going to come in as the number two]," said Busch.

"I'm just excited to have a fresh start and new possibilities out here, both on and off the field. I'm just really excited to help San Jose in any way I can and I'm going to do what I've always done in the 14 years [I've been playing professional soccer], just put my head down and work and do what I can do and leave the rest up to the coaching staff."
