Bury pull out of reserve league

Bury have withdrawn from the totesport.com reserve league, but will continue to play in the Manchester Senior Cup and the Lancashire Cup. Also, Richie Barker and his staff will be arranging local friendly games with sides as and when needed.

Richie told the club's official website said: "There will be no reserves in terms of regular league games, but after speaking to other clubs and having seen other clubs go along the same route, we will have a reserve team playing in various competitions such as the Manchester & Lancashire Cups.

"We will be arranging friendlies with local clubs. Last year we did a lot of travelling with weakened teams because it wasn't always right to have first team players in the side because of important first team games coming up.

Towards the end of last season, it pretty much became an under 19's league and I am not that sure as to what the younger players get out of that."
