DC United have entered talks with Burundi national team defender David Habarugira.

The 20-year old has been on trial with United after spending several years in Anderlecht's academy system in Belgium and is close to signing a deal according to the Washington Post.

"We're optimistic," United GM Dave Kasper said about reaching a deal with Habarugira.

"He has several other offers [abroad], but I think he's pretty interested in coming."
