Burnley boss Owen Coyle must up his bid to land Hamilton Academicals midfielder James McCarthy.
The Scottish Sun says Coyle has had a £1 million offer for the teen rejected by the Accies.
Accies boss Billy Reid knows Coyle has been a long-term admirer of the PFA Young Player of the Year, but chairman Ronnie McDonald refuses to sell the youngster on the cheap.
