Burnley keeper Heaton: Designing own home helped me through injury rehab

Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton has revealed he helped design his new home while out injured.

A severe shoulder injury in September 2017 kept the Burnley captain out for nine months and ended his World Cup dreams.

And while out Heaton helped design his new family home on the outskirts of Altrincham in Cheshire.

Heaton told The Sun: "It was good to have another project to take my mind off the injury and focus on something else.

“Doing your rehabilitation in the gym on your own can be quite a lonely place.

“So I enjoyed having something to keep my mind occupied. I met with the builders and we had choices to make. I don't really watch the DIY programmes on television - I leave that to the wife!

“But I suppose the project was the same as designing my own gloves. I had quite a bit of input on the finer details such as the style, brightness and colours to make it a good fit."
