Burnley go for Sunderland defender Lamine Kone

Burnley are moving for Sunderland defender Lamine Kone.

The Daily Mail says the 28-year-old Ivory Coast international is available as he wants to play in the top flight and manager Simon Grayson will sell to help boost his transfer funds.

Kone had interest from Everton, Crystal Palace, West Ham and West Bromwich Albion last year before signing a new contract worth around £60,000 a week.

Kone has struggled to replicate his form this season after helping Sunderland avoid relegation last year but Clarets manager Sean Dyche remains an admirer of the Ivory Coast international.
