Burnley defender Owen Dodgson proud to make senior debut

Burnley defender Owen Dodgson was proud to make his debut in their FA Cup defeat to Huddersfield last week.

The Lancaster-born youngster replaced Dale Stephens in the 81st minute on Saturday, as the Clarets searched for an equaliser.

And Dodgson, who fired in a couple of dangerous crosses into the area, was delighted to get on the pitch and make his senior debut for the Clarets.

The teenager smiled: “It was an amazing feeling, personally and for my family, it's all I've been working for since I was a young lad and since joining Burnley.

“I found out the day before I was involved in the squad, there's been a few covid cases in the first team squad, so they were missing a few.

“But I've been working hard, training hard then trained with the first team and found out I would be in the squad.

“I wasn't too nervous when I came on, I was ready and excited and just really pleased to get on, it was just a shame about the result in the end.

“I just have to keep working hard now and keep doing what I'm doing and see where it takes me."
