Gigi Buffon says Juventus are in safe hands with Alex Manninger to cover for him in goal.

Buffon faces over a month on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery this week.

The Italy No1 said: "I am sorry I won't be able to give my contribution to the team, especially as the fixture list presents some matches I particularly wanted to play in, such as the trip to Parma and the next with Milan.

"Starting from Sunday against Catania I will be cheering on my teammates, knowing the Bianconeri goal is in good hands.

"Throughout his career and in the many games played last season, Manninger has proved himself to be an excellent goalkeeper. He'll confirm that again now, I am sure."
