Italy team manager Gigi Buffon is convinced by the depth of the nation's goalkeeping talent.
The Juventus icon discussed the cover for PSG keeper Gigio Donnarumma during yesterday's media conference at Coverciano.
Buffon said: "In the last 3-4 years the Italian pool of goalkeepers has grown a lot and now there are 5-6 of a very high level, without touching Donnarumma who is a consecrated goalkeeper. He is now competing with the top world class.
"All the others have made a journey and are giving important responses, starting with (Guglielmo) Vicario who will grow in the Premier League. Then (Ivan) Provedel, (Alex) Meret who won the Scudetto. Then also (Wladimiro) Falcone in Lecce, (Michele) Di Gregorio in Monza. There are many goalkeepers who are proving to be super reliable and to have something special.
"(Marco) Carnesecchi is not playing at Atalanta now but the championship is long. Provedel was probably the best goalkeeper of the last championship and this gives us hope if Gigio gets a cold."
