Gigi Buffon has declared he intends to stay with Juventus.

The goalkeeper was strongly linked with a summer move to Roma, but he has today insisted that he will remain in Turin.

“I never felt dumped by the club, as I’m sure they would have told me first,” said Buffon.

“However, there was a point in the season when I did wonder whether we could continue to work together. But then the recent statements confirmed their faith in me.”

Buffon added that he did discuss his future with Roma captain Francesco Totti.

“I often hear from Totti,” he added. “He is a friend and we talk about a variety of things. It’s only normal to discuss certain problems and certain possibilities.

“I did talk to him about possibly leaving, but my choice was and will always be Juventus.”
