Bruno Alves admits Porto must silence Arsenal skipper Cesc

Porto stopper Bruno Alves says they will target Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas in their Champions League tie.

The two sides meet at the Estadio do Dragao for the last 16 tie and Alves believes preventing Fabregas from influencing the clash will severely hinder Arsenal's chances.

The 28-year-old has urged his team mates to stop the Gunners skipper in his tracks as his side look to take an advantage to the Emirates for the second leg on March 9.

He told the News of the World: "It's Cesc Fabregas who stands out for his quality, his attacking play, the way he imposes his tempo.

"He is, without doubt, Arsenal's most valuable player. So we have to negate him."
