Former Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is waiting on the prospect of returning to Wigan Athletic.

The Daily Mail says if Roberto Martinez swaps Wigan for Liverpool - or Aston Villa - in the next week then Bruce could be tempted back to the DW Stadium for a third spell at the club.

Bruce walked out on Wigan owner Dave Whelan twice in the past but they still have a good relationship.
