Bruce: No need for Birmingham backroom shake-up

Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce is happy with his current backroom team.

He said: "I did look to freshen it up, I thought to myself 'do we need a new voice, someone different to help with Eric [Black]?'

"Terry Bullivant came in and unfortunately we then had to let him go, and I've missed him and John Benson around the club. But I have to say, since Eric arrived - and it takes a couple of years to forge a trust and understanding with somebody - he has done brilliantly.

"I decided last year to give him his head if you like and he responded. He was given more responsibility and came through with flying colours. And I think after last year's drastic overhaul, most of these players have only worked with us for a year.

"So I am not planning to add to the coaching staff. And we will probably have one of the smallest backroom staffs in the Premier League. When you consider Sam Allardyce at Bolton Wanderers had 20-odd people to call on, when you look at mine it's skeleton-like.

"That first game at Chelsea there will probably be plenty of room for the staff they can't get on their bench to sit on ours!"
